Fantasy Books - Free Book Summaries and Book Report Ideas
Fantasy Book vs. Book Summary
Fantasy Books. So many of them, and most come in a long series or even a saga. From George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, through Steven Erikson’s The Malazan Book of the Fallen, and on to Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber - my shelves are filled with fantasy fiction books. Aren’t they the best?
This site is about taking a great novel and turning it into a concise book summary, so that readers can plan their time better and choose which books they want to read. However, fantasy literature is difficult to summarize. Imaginative worlds find it difficult to get compressed into short versions. I’m giving it a try anyway, and I will be happy to hear your feedback.
The King of Fantasy Fiction Books
The Hobbit or There and Back Again was written by J. R. R. Tolkien and published in 1937. I was lucky enough to stumble upon it many years later in a lazy summer day and my life hasn’t been the same since. I read it in one long afternoon. The following day I read The Fellowship of the Ring, then The Two Towers, and then The Return of the King – my first week with The Lord of the Rings.
From my point of view, Tolkien has created a real fantasy world which exists out there somewhere. All fantasy books that followed this path where writing in the shadow of Middle Earth.
Book Report of a Fantasy Book
One of this site’s readers has asked me if she can write a book report based on a fantasy book. My answer was simply – why not? Fantasy books have creative writing, reach language and many complex aspects that can be analyzed in a book report. I say – give it a try! And The Hobbit could be a great idea for a book report.
It all began with The Hobbit. Middle Earth, hobbits, wizards, elves, dwarfs, people, the Lord of the Rings. The fantasy adventure of The Hobbit was where it all started and sometimes it seems that our entire imagination could not have evolved to what it is today without The Hobbit. Tolkien’s world has been in the hearts and minds of generations around the world and getting to know The Hobbit is a first step into this wonderful world.
